Lucy Cousins creates Maisy’s Amazing Big Book of Learning. The colorful picture book is 11" x 11". It has forty-six pages of learning for preschool and early elementary school children. More than forty lift-the-flaps for interactive fun.
Maisy’s Amazing Big Book of Learning covers the basic concepts parents and teachers want kids to learn. Children learn to recognize numbers, colors, shapes and the alphabet. Also, they learn patterns, opposites, weather terms, days of week and much more.
Maisy the cute, little mouse beloved by children worldwide joins the leaning experience. A smiling Maisy enjoys counting the yellow chicks and learning things move fast and slow. The animal sounds ( baas, moos, quacks, etc.) delight her ears. As she smiles and learns so does young readers.
Lucy Cousins not only writes the text, the author illustrates Maisy’s Amazing Big Book of Learning. She uses bright primary colors. Ms. Cousins outlines each object in black which helps toddlers to focus on them and their color. The font is black and large which young readers can see and read easily. Children in circle groups can easily see the pages since the picture book is oversized.
The basic concepts book is interactive, drawing the child into the learning experience. Forty flaps for inquisitive fingers to lift and peek under. Kids love making the sounds of musical instruments and animals. Maisy learns quiet and loud noises, too. Parent and teachers engage toddlers and elementary students into conversation. Children love it when adults listen to them.
Lucy Cousins’s Maisy’s Amazing Big Book of Learning is a great picture book. It is economical because it contains basic concepts found in ten separate books. The book cover and pages are sturdy, but if a page tears, scotch tape exists.
