Why You Should Wear Sunglasses
Sunglasses are a cool fashion statement and they serve another very important purpose.
Sunglasses protect your eyes while you are out in the sunlight. We know this fact! Sure, the sun is a big beautiful glowing orange ball in the sky, but it also emits ultraviolet radiation or UV radiation. Studies show that a combination of UV-A and UV-B are very dangerous for your eyes. In fact, prolonged exposure to those elements might cause cataracts along with other vision problems.
Mad Dogs - Englishmen - Sunglasses
Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon day sun without their sunglasses. The noon day sun is at its peak and the UV radiation is at its highest. It is advisable to wear those sunglasses to protect the eyes during the sun's peak hours. This is especially true during those sunny days at the beach or when lounging around the pool because the reflection off the water could harm your vision.
Sunglasses Help You Avoid UV Damage
Wear sunglasses to ward off UV damage. Make sure that the sunglasses offer 100 percent UV-A and UV-B protection. They should state that on the sunglassí label. For example, Ray Ban or Oakley have a line of cool designer sunglasses that are guaranteed to provide the all important UV-A and UV-B protection. Polarized, mirror coated, gradient lenses and photo-chromic lenses are your best options for total UV-A and UV-B protection. Those who wear prescription glasses or contact lenses should check with their optometrist. The optometrist will provide you with the sunglass options that are available with your prescriptions.
Let's face facts. It is not a good idea to skimp on eye wear. You have to pay more for higher quality sunglasses. The sunglasses that you pay a bit more for offer better quality lenses, more durability, extra UV-A protection, and extra UV-B protection. It pays great health dividends in the long run to spend more for higher quality designer sunglasses.
