Good Fun in Seattle

Seattle, Washington, is quickly becoming one of my favorite cities in America, and for good reason—it’s a fabulous place to visit. It’s got all the great features of a big city with plenty of surprises in store for the visitor. Whether you’re checking out the views from the Space Needle, watching fish fly at Pike Place market, or enjoying a picnic at one of the many beautiful parks in the area, there will be no shortage of things to see or do.

Where to park it: Maple Grove RV Resort, situated about 20 miles north of Seattle, is a prime location to park your rig while exploring the area. This clean RV park is conveniently located near restaurants, shopping and gas stations and is a quick skip away from Seattle. Each spacious, full-hookup, paved site includes cable TV and Wi-Fi.

Where to satisfy your sweet tooth: Looking for a healthy way to indulge your sweet tooth? Look no further than Flying Apron Bakery located at 3510 Fremont Ave North in Seattle. In my humble opinion, Flying Apron is one of the best gluten-free and vegan bakeries in the country.

Where to park it: Those looking for a more country-like RV park setting will enjoy the pace at Lakeside RV Park in Everett, Washington. This pet-friendly RV park features 150 full-hookup sites, a playground, trout-stocked fishing lake, Wi-Fi and cable TV.

Where to play: Woodland Park, a 90-acre public park located near the Green Lake neighborhood features lots of open space, clean restrooms and a nice playground for the kiddos. Those who want even more adventure can visit the adjacent Woodland Park Zoo.

Where to get your vegan grub on: Plum Bistro is a fabulously groovadelic restaurant located at 1429 12th Avenue in Capitol Hill. The vegan menu features fresh, tasty fare with plenty of soy-free and gluten-free options. My favorite dish is the Portobello Steak entrée that comes with roasted beet puree, mustard greens and lentil croquettes.

Where to grab a slice: Razzi’s Pizzeria located at 8523 Greenwood Avenue in the Greenwood neighborhood has delicious, New York style pizza and features an extensive vegan and gluten-free menu.

Where to see the views: Not too many views can compare to the ones you’ll get from the Space Needle. Summit the Space Needle in the early evening so you can catch a sunset and all the twinkling lights as night time arrives in the city.

Where to Eat: Bamboo Garden vegetarian restaurant is located a few short blocks away from the Space Needle at 364 Roy Street in the Queen Anne neighborhood. This Asian-vegetarian restaurant features great faux meat dishes, including the best faux “Sweet and Sour Chicken” dish I’ve ever tasted.

Where to visit: A trip to Seattle wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the always bustling Pike Place Market. Watch the fish fly, shop for flowers or produce, browse through the many shops, or enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants: there’s something for everybody at this iconic establishment.
