1986 - Chernobyl, one of the world’s worst nuclear disasters, occurred today in the Ukraine.

Marcus Aurelius the Roman Emperor was born in 121.

Carol Burnett the legendary comedian who starred on TV’s “The Carol Burnett Show” was born in 1933.

Jay DeMarcus a member of country music’s Rascal Flatts was born in 1971.

Duane Eddy the singer of “Rebel Rouser” was born in 1938.

Glen Jacobs best known to wrestling fans as Kane was born in 1967.

Jet Li the actor/martial artist who has starred in “Hero”, “Romeo Must Die” and “Unleashed” was born in 1963.

Jessica Lynch the former P.O.W. was born in 1983.

Bernard Malamud the author of “The Natural” was born in 1914.

Jose Pasillas from the rock band Incubus was born in 1976.

I.M. Pei the famed architect whose works include the glass Pyramid located at the Louvre in Paris, France, was born in 1917.

Charles Richter who founded the Richter Scale was born in 1900.

Tomoyuki Tanaka the creator of Godzilla was born in 1910.

Roger Taylor from the band Duran Duran was born in 1960.

Melania Trump model and wife of Donald Trump was born in 1970.

Tionne Watkins best known as T-Boz from the singing trio TLC was born in 1970.

Tom Welling from TV’s “Smallville” and the films “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “The Fog” was born in 1977.

Morris West the author of “The Devil’s Advocate” was born in 1916.

Debra Wilson the actress/comedienne who starred on “MadTV” was born in 1962.

Gary Wright the singer/songwriter behind the hit song “Dream Weaver” was born in 1943.

Lucille Ball the infamous actress/comedienne best remembered as Lucy Ricardo on TV’s “I Love Lucy” passed away in 1989 at the age of 77.

William “Count” Basie the famed jazz musician passed away in 1984 at the age of 79.

John Wilkes Booth the actor who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln was killed in 1865 at the age of 36.

Jim Davis who starred as Jock Ewing on TV’s “Dallas” passed away in 1981 at the age of 71. His death was written into the show.

Gypsy Rose Lee the actress and burlesque dancer/entertainer passed away in 1970 at the age of 59.

Emily McLaughlin who starred on daytime TV’s “General Hospital” as Nurse Jesse Brewer passed away in 1991 at the age of 60.

Irene Ryan the actress of stage and screen who is best remembered as Granny from TV’s “Beverly Hillbillies” passed away in 1973 at the age of 70.
