1756 - The Seven Years War between England and France began.

1905 - Las Vegas, Nevada was founded!

1918- The U.S. Post Office began air mail service.

1940 - McDonald’s was founded!

1940 - Today marked that day that nylon hose were first sold.

1942- The Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps or WAACs was created.

Madeleine Albright the former U.S. Secretary of State was born in 1937.

Eddy Arnold the legendary singer of “Cattle Call” and “Make the World Go Away” was born in 1918.

L. Frank Baum author of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” was born in 1856.

Joseph Cotton who starred in “Citizen Kane”, “Gaslight” and “Tora! Tora! Tora!” was born in 1905.

Pierre Curie the Nobel Prize winning scientist/physicist was born in 1859.

Ellen Wilson the former First Lady and wife of the 28th U.S. President, Woodrow Wilson, was born in 1860.

Ahmet Zappa son of musician Frank Zappa was born in 1974.

Abraham Zapruder who filmed the infamous 8mm footage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was born in 1905.

June Carter Cash the singer/songwriter and wife of Johnny Cash passed away in 2003 at the age of 73.

Emily Dickinson the renowned poet passed away in 1886 at the age of 55.

Jerry Falwell the televangelist and political figure passed away in 2007 at the age of 73.
