The Magic of Bath Salts and Essential Oils

It's been a week of high energy and constant motion. I found out that a lot of you have been experiencing the same thing, so I thought I'd share a few recipes of some nice relaxing bath salts and butters.

Here's what you'll need:

Of course you'll need salts but what are your options? There's always the staple and consistent salt. Salt works as an anti-microbial agent, meaning it kills germs. There are different types of salts used in creating bath salts so lets take a look at two of them.

Epsom Salts

Epsom Salts are used to clean wounds, cuts, healing your skin and adding minerals and nutrients to your bath water. It's a large crystal that's high in magnesium salt and it doesn't absorb oils like finer salts will.

The larger the crystal, the more of a powder mixture you'll have to add to your recipe in order to have a loose type of bath salt.

Recipe using Epsom Salt

Epsom salt - 1/2 cup
Jojoba oil - 1/2 teaspoon

Mix the ingredients well using a plastic or wood spoon into a glass bowl. By all means add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil or blend to your bath salt.

Hawaiian Sea Salt

Hawaiian Sea Salt is high in iron oxide. There are two basic Hawaiian Sea salts that are harvested from one of the islands. The black salt contains activated charcoal from the volcano ash. It is used as a detoxification agent, it's also used an an antidote to poisons. The red salt is infused with alaea which is a type of Hawaiian clay.

Recipe using Hawaiian Sea Salt

Hawaiian Sea Salt - 1/2 cup
Kava powder - 1 teaspoon
Charcol powder - 1 teaspoon
Vanilla Extract - 1/2 teaspoon
Essential oils: Rose, cinnamon, lavender and vanilla orchids - 1 drop of each

Mix all ingredients well using a plastic or wood spoon into a glass bowl.

To boost your immune system, hydrate your skin and alleviate nervous tension using Hawaiian Sea Salt, blend :

Wailea white salt - 1/2 cup
Coconut oil - 1/2 teaspoon
Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Ylang Ylang - 1 drop each

Mix all ingredients well using a plastic or wood spoon into a glass bowl.

Side Note: You can blend any of the essential oils mentioned into an unscented body butter and have a wonderful moisturizer for your body.

That's it for this week.

As Always ...

Life Never Smelled So Sweet!
