My experience is that we can continue learning academic principles kinesthetically beyond the primary K-3 years.
Infact, students age 9 or grade 4 and beyond can learn kinesthetically by practicing advanced sequencing, complex rhythms and movement patterns.
This series of lessons provides experience and practice using large motor skills in varying sequential, rhythmic and complex patterns.
Here are some examples
a. forward, backward and sideways movement (reading and writing patterns on the page including breaks for different punctuation such as commas, periods, exclamation points, semi-colons, colons);
b. phrasing in music and dance (how to phrase in developing story writing and poetry, plus meter in music and poetry);
c. identifying right side and left side of body (learning to read, write, move through books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, e-programs, projects);
d. sequencing and developing memory (basic to all academic skills);
e. understanding sequencing (reading comprehension);
f. using arms in opposition to legs (right-left brain coordination);
g. learning about multiple sets of 4, 8 and 16 counts and more (mathematics including geometry);
h. hearing and feeling the strong beat of the rhythm, the accented part of the step (accented, unaccented syllables and reading);
i. learning patience with self and cooperation with others (communication skills);
j. finishing what is begun; the steps, the sequence, completing the whole (completing work in a way that others can understand);
k. finding that learning can be fun while moving enthusiastically (enthusiasm increases energy for learning).
