Halloween Haven Interactive Video Webpage
In a previous article, we discussed Grandin Road's Halloween Haven marketing videos, which have been a big part of their Halloween Haven product line for several years. But this year I noticed a few changes.
This year's Halloween Haven marketing video trailer is entitled Into The Shadows and does not disappoint their fans. But the animation fun doesn't stop on YouTube. There is a interactive video webpage with many of the same design elements from the marketing video. This "frightfully fun interactive video experience" is a great combination of clips from the video marketing trailer and CSS interactive elements.
Of course, Grandin Road still has their online store with product pages containing the embedded YouTube Halloween Haven 2015 marketing videos, which is part of a section of their website dedicated to Halloween. They also have a Haunted Library with articles full of suggestions for your Halloween. This is a great way to archive products from previous years that can still be purchased. There is also a Video Vault with embedded Halloween Haven marketing videos from both this year and previous years.
As in previous years, there is a link on the "Welcome to Halloween Haven" webpage that will play this year's marketing trailer in a popup window. But this year there is another link. This "Start the Adventure" link goes to a group of webpages that are all about an interactive shopping experience.
When you enter this area, you see the first scene of this years Halloween Haven marketing video. After that plays in full screen mode, you see the "A Wicked Welcome" interactive webpage, which has a background video of a spooky, decorated front door. Over the video are some hot spot buttons for the featured products in the scene, that open a popup overlay with a short description of the product, the embedded YouTube video, a link to the online store product page and a button to add the item to your shopping cart directly from the popup window.
On the right is a vertical list of icons for all the Halloween Haven products and a View Cart icon. On the left is a icon to open an interactive map overlay with several links that lead the viewer to other interactive webpages, including the Parlor of the Departed, Vampire's Vault, Den of Feasts, Ghostly Corridor, Orange and Black Room, Chamber of Glam, Stairway to Haven, The Droolery and The Boneyard. Each webpage begins with a video clip of a hand pushing the door open to enter another room, followed by another spooky decorated room with hot spots for the products displayed in that room.
