Make Sure Your Customers Read Your Ezine This article is the second in our series of How to Start a Newsletter or Ezine. Our first article in the series was “Why You Should Start a Newsletter.” You now have an outstanding Ezine with great content. After taking time, you are finally pleased with the results. But having great content is only one portion of the pie. Now its time to present it to the world, but how do you know your customers will actually read it, let alone pass on to others? Most Ezine programs will give you some analytics to tell you what is being looked at. But how do you know why things aren’t being read? And if your Ezine sells items you definitely want to know why the items aren’t moving. While it’s not an actual science, you can make sure that your Ezine is putting its best foot forward. Even simple mistakes will make the reader feel uncomfortable about buying or even reading your Ezine. Attention to detail is very important in any market. There are a few key things that you can do to make sure your Ezine is read. Spelling and Grammar Double check your document for any typos or grammar mistakes. Have someone else re-read the document to ensure that it is free from mistakes. Often the word is correctly spelled but not the right choice of word. There is nothing worse than a document that is hard to read because of spelling mistakes. It is hard for the reader to concentrate on the content when mistakes are present. Styling Are you keeping up to date on your Ezine? Don’t settle in with a specific style and not be open to evolving. There are many different programs to use for your Ezine. Customers like to see that you are keeping up with new products and they will be more willing to take your word on new cutting edge techniques. If your Ezine has an old style or even a very basic one, you may also lose a few customers. Where You Send Them If you have links to additional products, affiliates or other articles, double check that they work. Most links do not change so there may not be a need to refresh them. If you are using affiliate links double check to see if the affiliate is still using the link before you send it out. Your customers will not be happy when they get sent to a bad link. In addition do not send them to a blog that is not consistently being updated. Again, it shows that you do not care where you send them. These simple things can make the difference between you and your competition. Paying attention to detail is the key to your success. Don’t do anything halfway. Enjoy taking the time to put out a perfect product. Don't miss Part 1 in this series: Starting a Newsletter - Why You Should Start a Newsletter | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site Map
