Besides being absolutely adorable, popular blogger, Chungah Rhee, can cook! Damn Delicious is her first cookbook, and in it, she offers quick and easy food ideas that real people can and want to make. It is loaded with unique mouthwatering recipes, some using the slow cooker, and others that are simply quick and easy.
There are dozens of delectable recipes in this cookbook, as well as great cooking, storing, and nutritional tips and beautiful pictures. There are trendy recipes, like Avocado Toast, Clean out the Fridge Chicken Sliders, and Zucchini Lo Mein (using a spiralizer to create zucchini noodles), as well as classics made easier like Shrimp and Grits (Not quite on the level of Crook’s Corner where the dish was invented and made famous, but extremely good and much quicker) and restaurant favorite, Bang Bang Chicken. The slow cooker recipes require very little prep, and mostly ingredients that are already on hand; so far the Slow Cooker Korean Beef has become a new favorite – it has phenomenal authentic Korean flavors and is addictive - but the Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken and Veggies and Slow Cooker Maple Dijon Chicken and Broccoli are also very good (we don’t like chicken thighs at our house, so I substituted breasts and both dishes turned out great). The book includes a delicious Hot Corn Dip, as well as an excellent Chunky Artichoke, Spinach, Jalapeño Dip.
Rhee’s instructions are easy to follow, her recipes are mostly quick and easy, and this has become a great “go-to” book when deciding on what to make for dinner when time is at a premium. This is a great cookbook for everyone who cooks – novice to beginner - and has enough unique and intriguing recipes to keep them busy for months. This book is highly recommended.
The bottom line: Damn Delicious is a damn good cookbook!
