With the excess amounts of convenience products available at grocery stores, fewer adults are cooking, which means that there are many households where kids aren’t being taught cooking skills. Fortunately, there are some good books available to help. Deanna F. Cook has released an excellent cookbook, Baking Class: 50 Fun Recipes Kids Will Love to Bake!, for children ages 8-12, which teaches baking skills. Aside from the kid-friendly recipes, the book also features sections on Kitchen Rules, Kitchen Safety, Measuring, and Kitchen Rules.

One of the most helpful parts of this book is that almost all of the recipes feature step-by-step pictures, the young cooks will have no trouble preparing the dishes. The recipes are those that will appeal to most children (as well as adults). There are recipes for everyday classics such as Snickerdoodles, Chocolate Cupcakes, and Oatmeal Cookies with several variations. The book includes a Sugar Cookie Primer to teach how to make and roll sugar cookies, as well as basic cake and cookie decorating. The Brownie Pizza will appeal to everyone and kids will enjoy using their artistic talent in making it especially beautiful and appetizing. While the sweets will probably appeal to kids the most, there are also breakfast treats such as French toast and muffins, as well as snacks including nachos and Crispy Cheese Squares. Kids will love to learn to make bread dough and turn it into bread art including a turtle and an octopus.

Everyone loves pizza, and the dough recipe is easy and turns out good. There are also other breads such as a No-Knead Bread which is easy and is also very good.

This is a fun cookbook, and kids of all ages will love the recipes and will be able to learn some basic baking skills as well as make luscious baked goods. The recipes are easy to understand and follow and contain ingredients that are probably in most homes already.

Highly recommended, Baking Class: 50 Fun Recipes Kids Will Love to Bake! makes a perfect gift and will be enjoyed by kids.
