The National Crime Commission warns that criminals target women traveling alone. Follow the suggestions included here to stay safe, traveling this summer.
Thieves invade airports, train stations, bus terminals, searching for travelers juggling several pieces of luggage. Certainly, the travelers attention is on the luggage this makes the innocent woman traveler very vulnerable and less likely to notice missing luggage, until it is too late.
Here is a tip. Label your luggage and list the items in each bag. Take digital snapshots of your luggage just before vacation time to easily identify your luggage. Lock all luggage securely. This step discourages luggage thieves.
Secure Handbags And Wallets
Ladies keep that handbag close to your body. Wear a cross-body bag. Avoid swinging your purse on a wrist or shoulder. Never leave your handbag unguarded. Thieves look for such open opportunities. Look out for distractions caused by criminal teams in crowded travel areas. Stay aware of your surroundings at all times. No texting, talking on cellphones, messaging, listening to music, unless really necessary. These are big distractions that make you more vulnerable.
Walk with confidence. Hold your head high. Make eye contact with the people around the area. This is especially important for women traveling on vacation alone. The National Crime Commission reported that the average woman avoids eye contact. Thieves pick up the vibe and view those actions as passive behavior or someone that would not fight back or scream. Thieves love soft targets.
Leave Credit Cards/Important Papers
Leave most of your credit cards and debit cards at home. Take along only one credit card for emergencies. Thus, reducing the chances that a thief confiscates all your credit cards and identity.
