Rev Up Summer Skin Care
Summer is here. Time to revitalize your summer skin care routine. Get started with these fresh, new ideas.
Keep Summer Skin Hydrated
Summer sun is also a skincare hazard. Perspiration and heat are not a good mix. Keep skin hydrated with extra drinking water. This is especially important for people that perspire heavily.
Cleanse Summer Skin
Summer sun, heat, and sweat clog the pores. Clogged pores lead to breakouts and other skin problems. Cleanse the face daily with a gentle cleansing bar. Rinse the skin afterwards. Next, smooth moisturizing lotion over the facial skin and don't forget the neck area.
Double Up On Sunscreens
Only apply sunscreens with an SPF 15 or higher. Apply a much higher SPF, if you spend a lot of time out in the summer sun. Those that perspire heavily should reapply the sunscreen every few hours.
Avoid Excess Sun Exposure
Avoid extreme exposure to UV-B and UV-A radiation. The fact is that UVA plays a bigger part in aging the exposed skin and even causing skin cancer. Resist sunbathing, when the sun is strongest during the day.
Wear head gear, preferably a cap or hat with a brim to protect the face. Remember that the sun is strongest between 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 PM. Make sure
arms are not overexposed to sun rays. Carry a summer umbrella along on your trips across town, to protect you during the high sun hours. Your skin will thank you by looking fresh and beautiful all summer long.
Avoid fake tans. Instead, take a trip to your makeup counter and purchase a bronzer to cover your skin and give it a healthy sun bronzed glow or purchase one of the many self-tanners that are available at beauty supply stores.
Avoid tanning beds though because they emit UVA rays which damage and age the skin.
