Getting Your Skin Ready for Its Spring Debut

Getting Your Skin Ready for Its Spring Debut
Getting your skin ready for its Spring Debut? Yes for a lot of you, the weather will begin to warm up and you'll be peeling away layers of clothing. How does that sound to you and is your skin ready to make its entrance? I'm sure you kept your skin clean during the winter months, even if it was just enough to keep from smelling yourself. But did you pamper yourself? Did you exfoliate and keep the dead skin cells at bay? Probably not! Now it's time though.

Enter the world of sweet smelling body scrubs. Body scrubs will help remove the built up dead skin cells that have been sitting on top your skin throughout the colder months. This process of elimination is called exfoliation. Exfoliation helps slough away the dead skin cells and increase your circulation. When your circulation increases, it detoxifies your skin leaving it beautiful to touch and gives it a healthy looking glow. And don't forget to drink lots of water, it's an important part of the detox process.

I'm going to share two recipes from Shel Pink’s book, Slow Beauty. They are amazing!

Grapefruit, Ginger and Grapeseed Oil Paste Winter Scrub

1 cup coconut sugar
2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
4 tablespoons grapeseed oil
12 to 15 drops of grapefruit essential oil

Whisk the sugar and ginger together and then add the grapeseed oil and grapefruit essential oil. Whisk until the ingredients are fully blended. Transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature. You'll have to use it within 7 days. This is natural without preservatives.

Wet your body in the shower and then begin the exfoliation process. Grapeseed is a wonderful moisturizer and will glide across your body when used. As you apply your scrub you'll be met with the scent of pick me up grapefruit and warming ginger. Ginger warms your muscles and tones your skin. Grapefruit is the pick me up oil that detoxifies as it lifts your mood.

Lavender, Matcha and Avocado Spring Exfoliating Powder

1 cup coconut sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon matcha tea powder
2 tablespoons avocado oil
5 drops of lavender essential oil

Whisk together the sugar and matcha tea until they are fully blended. Add the avocado oil and lavender essential oil and continue to whisk until fully blended. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Use within 7 days. This is also a natural blend without preservatives.

This scrub is more like a sand scrub feeling. It's meant to be brushed onto your skin with your hands in a quick like motion. Exfoliate towards your heart to increase the blood flow. Rinse off with warm water when you finish.

Matcha stimulates the regeneration of your cells. Lavender with its beautiful aroma is calming and toning to your skin. Avocado oil has an excellent moisturizing penetrating quality and assist in repairing and softening your skin.

Both of these are great scrubs that will help you transition your skin care regimen from winter skin and definitely have it ready for it's Spring Debut.

That's it for this week!
