Essential Oils Are Liquid Gold

Essential Oils Are Liquid Gold
We're so accustomed to popping pills for ailments until when another method is mentioned, we either panic or some of us literally get hostel at the thought of not doing what the doctor says. Have you ever considered another alternative? When I was growing up, the smell of liniment and eucalyptus salves permeated the house. We always knew when someone was challenged with sore muscles, back pain or a headache.

I wasn't introduced to essential oils until much later in life. I come from a family that will pull an herb from the ground in a heart beat and whip up some kind of concoction. When I took my first whiff of an essential oil from a tiny bottle, I was hooked. The idea of having the scent of a flower with me throughout the year was fascinating. I had to also learn that these little bottles carried a highly potent mixture and that I couldn't just dab them on my arm straight from the bottle as if it were perfume.

Essential Oils in Your Daily Use

If you're not familiar with essential oils or know about them and you've decided to take a more serious interest, here are a few ways in which they're used.

To Make Perfumes - By far this is one of the most popular uses of essential oils. Natural perfumes made without synthetic chemical additives is the purist form of a perfume. It can also be the most expensive. It's something you can learn, it might take you a few years to get the hang of it, but look at the knowledge and skills you'll gain as a scent creator. You'll be in very high demand.

Aromatherapy - Therapy using scent. There's an art and science in aromatherapy. The art side of using essential oils to help shift the perception of pain, inflammation and your innate ability to heal mind, body and spirit. The science side looks at the chemistry of these oils helping to determine the therapeutic actions as they interact with your current medications, if any. They are prohibited in certain uses when it comes to children and pregnant women.

Weight Loss - While they are often overlooked, essential oils have been shown to facilitate weight loss in a number of ways. They increase energy, reduce food cravings, burn fat and have been known to actually help you sleep better.

The French are known for ingesting essential oils. Yes, adding a few drops to water has been shown to help with internal health issues and detox your system. Note: This is not a method to be tried without the aid of an aromatherapist or physician that's knowledgeable of prescribing essential oils for internal use. For the record, there are pros and cons of ingesting essential oils.

The Beauty of Essential Oils

Once you find the right combination for your personal use, they can be so luscious to have around. Essential oils can be used in diffusers to create a cool mist in your environment. They can calm your nerves and open your breathing passages or bring a soothing aroma to soften the musty odor in a closed up room. They can turn the head of a passerby often causing them to change directions ... and follow you.

What ever the reaction, essential oils - nature's liquid gold - are natural alternatives to choose over synthetic blends that will often cause allergic reactions in your system.

That's if for this week!
