A lot of people disregard the recipes on the backs of food products, cookbooks published by food companies, and brand-name appliances, grills, etc. However, common sense would tell us that if a company wants to sell their product, the recipes published should be fabulous and inspiring so that their products will be purchased over and over. In the case of Char-Broil Great Book of Grilling: 300 Tasty Recipes for Every Meal: Delicious Appetizers, Meat, Veggies & More Over 300 Mouthwatering Photos & Easy-to-Make Recipes for Your Grill the product is the grill, and the recipes have instructions for cooking on that grill. Although this excellent cookbook focuses on all outdoor cooking, it is one of the few of its kind that includes infrared cooking. Many of the newer gas grills, including mine, have this feature, and instructions and recipes haven’t always been available. Infrared Cooking is reason enough to purchase this cookbook.
There are good instructions for most kinds of outdoor cooking, including smoking, and dozens of excellent recipes, so you can’t go wrong in choosing this exceptional cookbook. We loved the Charred Sugar-Crusted Salmon – the rub is divine and good for all types of fish – and the South-of-the-Border Chicken Pizza is fabulous. The instructions are excellent and are suitable for all kinds of pizza; infrared doesn’t get so hot that it burns the crust, so the end results are a crisp golden crust. Other recipes that are excellent are Grilled & Shredded Jerk Chicken Sandwiches, Double-Grilled Stuffed Potatoes, and Sesame-Crusted Chicken with Wasabi Cream Sauce to name a few. There are even several recipes for grilled whole turkey.
This excellent cookbook includes meats, poultry, seafood, side dishes, vegetables, and desserts. The photographs – almost every recipe is pictured – are beautiful and make it difficult to decide which recipe to try. Most of the recipes are fairly easy, and the instructions in all of the recipes are easy to understand and follow.
If you are in the market for a cookbook on grilling, you can’t get a better one. Highly recommended.
