Although there are those who don’t cook much and rely on convenience foods and take-out, those who are mindful of the health benefits of cooking good meals at home. Most of us need some help in this area, and Carrie Morey has just published an excellent cookbook full of good ideas. Hot Little Suppers: Simple Recipes to Feed Family and Friends has a variety of good recipes that are not only appealing, but mostly easy to prepare.

People are busy nowadays, so most of us need quick, easy meals to make, especially on weeknights after a long day at work. Morey obviously loves biscuits, and there are recipes for several varieties, as well as casserole recipes for leftover biscuits. Biscuits can always be made quickly, so they are a good accompaniment to meals. There are recipes from everywhere, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Mexican Pork al Pastor, Asian Pork Potstickers, Indian Chicken Tikka Masala, Italian Wedding Soup, as well as dishes from Greece, and several regions of America. This is a compilation of good dishes for most families, and there are also beautiful photographs of many of the dishes.

This is a great cookbook with recipes written in an easy-to-follow traditional form, and will be easy for everyone – from beginning cooks to advanced – to prepare. It is also a fun cookbook; it is well-written with comments at the beginning of each recipe to give insight to cooks and explain anything necessary for successful recipes.
