Interested in BBQ competition? While most of us just want to create mouthwatering BBQ at home, BBQ Revolution: Innovative Barbecue Recipes from an All-Star Pitmaster has a chapter on competition, which is interesting even if that isn’t the goal. There are, of course, also chapters on basics, tools, smoking, and BBQ preparation.

This excellent cookbook includes not only BBQ meats, poultry, and seafood, but it also includes rubs, seasonings, and sauces for those BBQ specialties. There are also recipes using the finished products, such as Smoked Bacon and Brisket Pie (number one in my “must make” queue). Benjamin also includes accompaniments and side dishes to go with the BBQ. These aren’t run-of-the-mill recipes; rather, they are mouthwatering side dishes most of us will want to try immediately. The beautiful photographs will make it very tempting to BBQ every night.
The recipes in this cookbook are some of the best, not only for BBQ specialties, but also the sides. There are even desserts that will appeal to almost everyone. In fact, this is one of the best BBQ cookbooks out there. It includes recipes that real people will want to make and eat. It includes sandwiches that are unique (i.e., Smoked Brisket Philly Cheesesteak), and some that are trendy and popular like the Cuban sandwich that he has named Barbe-Cuban Sandwich. Benjamin even adds burnt ends to his grilled cheese sandwiches.

Even if it isn’t BBQ weather, most will want to use this cookbook year round. It’s one of the best out there and should be added to every good cookbook collection. This one is highly recommended.
