Journaling - Faithbooking Challenge
I realized just how much I needed to start Faithbooking when my Sunday school class was studying the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I highly recommend The Purpose Driven Life book to everyone! Even if you haven’t had a chance to read the book, here is a little excerpt that really hit home with me. Rick Warren states in his book:
Keep a notebook or journal of lessons learned. This is not a diary of events, but a record of what you are learning. Write down the insights and life lessons God teaches you about him, about yourself, about life, relationships, and everything else. Record these so you can review and remember them and pass them on to the next generation (Ps. 102:18, 2 and Timothy 3:14). We remember what we record. Writing helps clarify what God is doing in your life. Dawson Trotman used to say, “Thoughts disentangle themselves when they pass through your fingertips.” Your life is a journey, and a journey deserves a journal.
Through the Purpose Driven Life study I realized that not only did I need to keep a journal about the things God was doing in my life, but also I could take it to a whole new level and add pictures to make a faithbook. I immediately started recording things in a notebook that I keep in my purse. I have found that by keeping my notebook in my purse I can usually always remember to write things down so I will remember to record them in my faithbook later. Once I started writing things down I realized just how many miracles and God moments actually occur throughout my every day. Things, that before I started looking for God’s hand in my life I just chalked up to luck and coincidence. God is constantly at work in and around us. If we would only take the time to notice the miracles and listen to his voice! In bible times when God did amazing things we call them miracles. Now days when God does amazing things in our lives we chalk it up to luck or coincidence. I would like to encourage you to start looking for God’s hand in your life every day. My challenge for you is to record these miracles in your scrapbooks or in a journal until you get a chance to scrapbook them. With these miracles recorded you will not only be actively watching God work in your life but you will be increasing the faith of you and everyone you share your Faithbooks with!
A very important tool in Faithbooking is prayer. My constant prayer is that God will help me to realize his works in my life. Once I realize the works in my life, it is then a whole differnt problem that surfaces. That problem is to remember so that I can record it in my faithbook. There is a bible verse that I claim at the times that I am unable to write things down. "But the counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” –John 14:26. With this verse, I trust that the Holy Spirit will remind me to write things down.
Don’t just talk about starting your faithbook, JUST DO IT! The easiest place to start is the journaling! Get yourself a small notebook to keep with you so you can start recording the miracles and God moments that are revealed to you each day. You can even alter the notebook to make it special and pleasing to your eye!
