Ballet - Advanced Adagio Combinations 16 - 19

For ages 13 and older, and as a daily lesson plan of selected combinations for mature male and female ballet dancers.

For the young teen expect 3 years to master the technique. The introduction to the advanced syllabi is here.

If anyway possible, now is the stage to have a piano accompanist for classes for the flexibility it affords with music.

Advanced Adagio Combinations 16 - 19

16. Demi grand rond de jambe en l'air
RF front 5th position, face corner 2, head to back foot
A. cts 1-8 - plié down and up,
B. cts 1-3 - relevé 5th, ct 4 - step down on back foot and face fwd,
C. cts 5,6 - retiré, arms 5th en avant,
D. cts 7,8 - developpé, open arms,
E. cts 1-3 - take leg to a la seconde,
F. ct 4 - retiré,
G. cts 5, 6, 7 - extend back leg to 2nd,
H. ct 8 - retiré,
I. cts 1,2 - developpé fwd,
J. ct 3 - side,
K. ct 4 - back,
L. ct 5 - face corner 1, ct 6 - bend knee,
M. cts 7,8 - arms up in attitude,
N. ct 9 ... relevé and balance
repeat beginning with LF 5th position front, facing corner 1

17. Coupé et Fouetté
preparation: face corner 2, RF front in 5th position
A. cts 1-3 - relevé 5th, arms low, ct 4 - lower back heel, face wall 5,
B. cts 1,2 - retiré, arms 5th en avant,
C. cts 3,4 - developpé, arms as in B.,
D. ct 5 - demi plié supporting leg,
E. ct 6 - step fwd to R demi pointe, arms open, L leg in arabesque,
F. ct 7 - lower R heel,
G. ct 8 - retiré L leg, arms 5th en bas,
H. cts 1,2 - developpé L leg second, arms en avant and 2nd,
I. cts 3,4 - two rond de jambe en dedans,
J. ct 5 - flic-flac - front and back,
K. cts- 6-8 - hold L leg back of ankle on the cou de pied,
L. repeat B. through J.

18. Temps de Courante
preparation: face wall 5, 5th position RF front
A. ct &1 - turn to face corner 1, step fwd to R demi pointe,
extending LF back in low arabesque, l arm across in front, head leans R,
B. ct 2 - retiré L leg,
C. ct 3 - close 5th and lower heels, arms 5th en bas,
D. ct 4 - step back L demi pointe, arms and body effacé, head leans L, extend R leg fwd,
E. ct 5 - retiré R leg,
F. ct 6 - close 5th, lower heels, lower arms, face fwd, RF front,
G. ct 1 - extend LF back, supporting leg plié, left arm fwd, R arm 2nd, head leans R,
H. ct 2 - L leg point 2nd, arms open, R knee bent, head erect,
I. ct 3 - l leg point fwd, L arm fwd, R arm 2nd, head L,
J. ct & - R arm en haut,
K. cts 4-6 - cross L leg over, small bourrées turning in place to R,
arms open, then L arm up, R arm in 2nd, close RF fwd facing fwd and lowering arms,
L. ct & - face corner 2 LF front of coude pied and repeat A. through K. -
repeat entire A. - L. except G. - K. as 2 emboités and one assemblé down and 3 changements

19. Écarté et Éffacé
preparation: face corner 2, RF 5th front
A. ct 1 - point RF 2nd, arms 5th en avant
B. ct 2 - arms écarté
C. ct 3 - arms open
D. ct 4 - close 5th facing corner 1, RF front
E. ct 1 - pointe fwd, arms 5th en avant
