Ballet - Advanced Adagio Combinations 20 - 24

For ages 13 and older, and as a daily lesson plan of selected combinations for mature male and female ballet dancers.

For the young teen expect 3 years to master the technique. The introduction to the advanced syllabi is here.

If anyway possible, now is the stage to have a piano accompanist for classes for the flexibility it affords with music.

Advanced Adagio Combinations 20 - 24

20. Eight body positions, Point tendu with port de bras
1. croisé devant
2. a la quatrieme devant
3. écarté
4. effacé
5. a la seconde
6. épaulé
7. al la quatriem derrièrre
8. croisé derrièrre
reverse -
point and close in each position in 4cts with corresponding port de bras

21. Grand battement devant, a la seconde 8x; derrière, a la seconde 8x
preparation: 5th position, RF front, facing 5
1 grand battement devant, 1 grand battement 2nd, alternating feet 8x,
grand battement derrièrre, grand battement in 2nd, alternating feet 8x

22. 4th and 5th Arabesque en l'air
preparation: carner 2 5th position RF front
A. cts 1-4 - chassé RF to corner 1, lift L leg in arabesque, plié on R leg, L arm fwd
B. cts 5,6 - bring R arm fwd, raise L arm in 3rd arabesque
C. ct 7 - retiré L leg, face 5, arms 5th en haut
D. ct 8 - close LF 5th position front, lower arms, facing corner 1
repeat to corner 1

23. Retiré with developpé in each arabesque
preparation: face 6, 5th position, RF front
A. cts 1,2 - retiré R leg, arms fwd
cts 3,4 - developpé R leg back into 1st arabesque, arms 1st arabesque
cts 5,6,7 - hold
ct 8 - close 5th position back
B. repeat A. except extend to 2nd arabesque cts 3,4
C. repeat A. except extend to 3rd arabesque cts 3,4
D. repeat A. except plié on supporting leg and extend to 4th arabesque cts 3,4
E. repeat D. except extend to 5th arabesque cts 3,4
repeat entire exercise to 8, 5th position, LF front

24. Five arabesque en l'air
preparation: 5th position, RF front, facing 5
ct 1 - retiré R leg, arms 5th en avant,
ct 2 - developpé a la seconde, arms open
ct 3 - turn to face 6, arms and leg in 1st arabesque
ct 4 - arms open
ct 5 - R arm fwd in 2nd arabesque
ct 6 - L arm fwd in 3rd arabesque
ct 7 - turn to face 5, arms open
ct 8 - close leg 5th position front arms low
cts 1-4 - chassé RF to corner 2 on demi plié,
L arm fwd R arm back into 4th arabesque, L leg in arabesque
cts 5,6 - bring R arm fwd, lift L arm into 5th arabesque
ct 7 - face fwd, retiré L leg, arms 5th en haut
ct 8 - close 5th position back -
repeat all with L leg
