Harry Potter Clues : Office of Misinformation

The Office of Misinformation is a department of the Ministry of Magic. The ones who work in the department are called Oblivators. Their job is to modify the memories of Muggles. If Muggles see a wizard, their memories' are altered by the Oblivators.

The Office of Misinformation is kept busy by the havoc the Death Eaters are creating. The Death Eaters are wrecking havoc in the Muggle world as well as the Wizard world.

Peter Pettigrew (later Ron's Scabbers) fakes his death in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He does so in front of muggles leaving witnesses. The Office of Misinformation modifies their memories.

The Death Eaters are busy evil bees in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Again, Muggles witness wizard activites. And again, the Oblivators have a job to complete.
