Outer Strength, Inner Strength
Guest Author - Diana Pederson

Ginnie Mesibov. Outer Strength, Inner Strength. Xulon Press, 2004.

Women are often thought of as being uniquely able to be strength for a family while maintaining their own peace and strength too. How often do you think about the many heartaches a woman may be experiencing in her own inner life? Society seems to think women are able to have “it all” as they say – career, marriage, family. This book takes the time to talk about the inner struggles women go through, and provide them with encouragement and hope!

The book is based on a series of weekly messages (although daily would be better). I challenge any woman I know to settle for reading just one chapter a week. Personally, each chapter made me eager to learn what Ginnie Mesibov had to share in the next one, and as a result, I read the whole book in one pleasant afternoon.

Those weekly messages addressed every issue from setting up those infamous New Year’s resolutions to dealing with your mother dying or a best friend having cancer return. Mesibov offered both personal and scriptural encouragement for the woman in each situation.

Recommendation

Are you looking for a good devotional book for your girlfriend, wife, or female friend? May I suggest Outer Strength, Inner Strength this holiday gift giving season? It is a book that is sure to encourage her to draw nearer to Jesus our Savior, and to give her the strength and confidence to keep on walking through the myriad problems all women (and men for that matter) face.
