Finding the Magic in Nature

Finding the Magic in Nature

Pagan religions are nature based. It is important for Pagans to be able to find the magic in nature. All we need to do is go outside to find magic. We respect the earth and the magic that it can provide.

You do not need to travel long distances to find the magic in nature. You can start in your own yard or neighborhood. Even if you live in a big city or in an apartment, you can experience nature. Go outside and feel the warmth of the sun or the glow of the moon. Breathe in the air. Feel the earth under your feet.

If you have a local park or nature preserve in your area, spend some time there. Go for a walk or sit by a tree. If you do not know much about plants and herbs that grow in the wild, you can learn. You can buy a book on identifying these plants. See how many you can find. Look for interesting rocks and fallen branches.

Observe the earth as the seasons change. Watch how everything begins to grow in the spring and die in the fall. Think about the endless cycles of nature. Feel the power of a majestic full moon. Be energized by the warmth of the sun.

Find something that you enjoy to do in nature. Take long walks, meditate, swim or play in the snow. While you are enjoying nature, remember that there is magic all around you. The four elements, earth, air, fire, and water surround you. See them, feel them and experience them. Every time that you walk outside you are experiencing the elements.

If you feel inclined, perform your rituals and spells outside. Have your holiday celebrations outside. Incorporate nature into your celebrations. The possibilities are endless.

You can find many things to use in your practice. A fallen branch can be used to make a magical wand. Fallen leaves can be used in spells and for holiday decorations. Stones can be blessed and carried by the practitioner. Use your imagination and your intuition to guide you. Just remember to respect the earth and to give back. The earth provides us many bounties and magical opportunities. It is important to give thanks to the earth for all it provides. It is equally important to give back to the earth. Recycle, clean up litter, or plant a tree. Be creative.
