Sun Protection Factor

Many women participate in outdoor activities without even giving a thought to sun protection or wearing a sunscreen. And did you know that the SPF in sunscreen is of major importance? Read ON....

SPF or Sun Protection Factor is a system used to measure the effectiveness of the sunscreen that you use on your face. Commonly, those products with a high SPF are more effective at protecting the skin against the suns harmful rays or UV-B the ultra-violet radiation that is responsible for sun damage. And as many know sun damage is responsible for premature aging in many women and men.

The SPF or Sun Protection Factor is also the amount of UV radiation that a person can risk exposure to before their skin burns or they receive skin damage. For example a sunscreen with SPF Factor 30 means that your skin should not burn until it has been exposed to 30 times the sun exposure that normally causes a sunburn. And the amount of sun exposure is also heavily dependent upon the time of day you are out in the sun. Early morning and late afternoon sun is less harmful to the skin then exposure at high noon when the sun is at its highest point.

Sunblocks
Sunblocks are thicker than sunscreen and much better at blocking the suns harmful rays. And very good at blocking both UVA/UVB rays.

Sunscreens
Sunscreens are thinner than sunblocks. Sunscreens do not last as long as sunblock and need frequent application. Sunscreens are adequate at blocking UVA/UVB rays.

Natural Sunscreen Facial Lotions

There are many natural and anti-aging sunscreens on the market that protect the skin from UVA/UVB rays. A few popular natural sunscreens include Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Ageless Sun Lotion for Face SPF70, Ocean Potion Suncare Natural Mineral Protection SPF 45, Tinted Sun Lotion.
