Boiron Arnica Gel
Guest Author - Jennie Kiger

The Arnica plant (Arnica montana) is an attractive, bright yellow daisy-type plant, that has been used for centuries in several parts of the world - mainly Europe and the central US - to soothe and heal bruises, sprains, and relieve other minor injuries, arthritis and muscle or cartilage pain. It is also said to be effective when used as a salve for chapped lips, irritated nostrils and even acne. A few sources cite some use of taking it internally, but most don’t recommend it, as it can irritate the stomach, and some people have food-type allergies to it - even some very severe.

At a cursory look for the background, this is the summation of the information you will find about Arnica. But this falls so short to those of us who have found the use of this nearly miraculous plant, and its most easily used form... Arnica gel.

I suffer from chronic and severe back pain. I have found many things that help to soothe the constant aching, but nothing, not even prescription painkillers, have ever done nearly as much as this simple gel has. There are days I think I would not be able to make it through without this wonderful product.

I have tried several different brands, as well. And while all of them are superbly effective, none I have found is quite of the same quality as that produced by Boiron. It has only the pleasant smell of Arnica itself paired with a slight alcohol odor which evaporates quickly once the gel is applied. Unlike some brands, it applies smoothly and absorbs quickly, leaving no greasy or ‘crumbly’ residue.

And muscle pain such as I routinely suffer is hardly the only use for this amazing gel. It is nearly unsurpassed when it comes to healing bruises, helping reduce the swelling due to everything from minor strains to pulled teeth, irritation and pain of over-used feet, and dozens of other minor things that I can speak of from experience.

This is, without a doubt, an item that I will always, without fail, have on hand in my medicine cabinet.
