How to run a Ringers Game!

If your Ladies group would like to try some new type of game for your golfing group during the year, you may want to give Ringers a try. The Ringer game is set up with each hole of your club whether it is a 9-18-27-36 holes at your course. Our club has 27 holes and I am the Ringer Chairwoman this year. I worked up a posting sheet for each of our 27 holes. It also is long enough to carry about 20 members who want to participate. It will take two lines per each member. The first line will be her beginning scores for each hole and as the season progresses she will try to improve on those scores and record the improvement on the second line.

Each participant must be playing with a LGA member and they have to mark the card where she improved her score. This scorecard must be turned into me and I will check the improvement and see that the card is signed, dated by her playing partner. It is a challenge for each member to try to improve her score over each hole played. Since we have 27 holes we take in all these holes during the year.

At the end of the year which is in November all the scores are totaled and prizes given for low gross and flighted including most improved by handicaps. It makes a fun extra game to keep your players involved with improving their golf game. We also stress to play by USGA rules plus we have local rules on certain holes so these will apply. Our local rules help speed up play as our course is very busy during the summer months.

I made our scoring poster from tournament sheets our pro gave me. It worked out just great for my 27 holes as I have to cut and paste until I got what I wanted. I like to be colorful and creative so added some pictures of our golf course to make it more attractive so members would want to sign up. We start our season on February 1st so that is the time for them to pay $10.00 to participate and their name will go up on the poster. I will give them a few weeks to turn in scorecards of their early play so they can be posted after their names and the games begin.

We had many new members who wanted to join our Ringer so had to add extra space for them. Some have not completed all 27 holes but we have a good start for the year.
