The New Career of Grace Slick

The New Career of Grace Slick
After the end of Jefferson Airplane, Grace Slick continued on with Jefferson Starship and Starship. After leaving Starship in 1988, she played very occasionally with a revival band called Jefferson Starship- The Next Generation. Since 1990, she has been retired from the music scene. For a few years she remained in her retirement, but after a few years became active in a new career.

She began to paint seriously in the mid-90s, soon amassing a large body of work. She largely painted the familiar faces from the beginning of her rock career. She painted classic rockers like Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. IN 2000 her work was featured in its first gallery showing. Since then she has shown in many galleries and has become an accomplished visual media artist.

In addition to the many faces of rock past, she also paints depictions of a white rabbit, as known from the Jefferson Airplane hit of the same name. The rabbit is sometimes painted with Alice and sometimes alone. Expanding on this theme, she also paints other characters from Alice in Wonderland. The caterpillar and the Cheshire cat, the Mad Hatter and the Red Queen are all the subjects of her paintings. Other subjects have included scenes from the Monterey Pop festival, Jim Morrison, Sting and Pete Townsend

Grace Slick spends much of her time now painting and traveling to various exhibits of her work. She has no plans to ever return to music.
