Body Cleansing is the new buzzword for good health in alternative medicine circles. And it is also a fact that the body cleansing method received glowing praise in one camp while drawing harsh criticism in another. Well, before we move too far ahead, let's take a step back. Body cleansing is not something new. Body cleansing was a ritual that started with the ancient Egyptians and Greeks. Today, alternative medicine experts hold that body cleansing is a healthy way to remove harmful toxins out of the body and improve health. The question still remains: is body cleansing really necessary for good health?
Body Cleansing Methods
It is interesting to note that several methods are employed to provide body cleansing. The two most popular methods engaged today include a detox diet and colon cleansing for general good health.
Detox Diets- Several detox diets are on the market today and actively followed by health conscious individuals who are concerned about removing disease causing toxins out of the body and maintaining a healthy weight. The idea behind the practice is that people today consume a lot of bad foods that are contaminated with harmful chemicals and toxins. The detox diet eliminates these harmful toxic foods from the diet. The detox diet usually suggest consuming only liquids. The diet forces the body to burn stored fat. Consequently, removing most of the toxins out of the body. It is important to note that many in the medical community are not in agreement with this theory.
Colon Cleaning - This method involves using colon cleansers to remove the toxins from the body that are responsible for many health problems. Others use colonics to fight stubborn constipation, boost health, and improve the immune system. Critics of the method believe that the body does not require these artificial methods to help remove harmful waste out of the body.
Is Body Cleansing Necessary?
The colon is a body cleansing powerhouse and works remarkably well removing waste, bacteria, and other toxins out of the body. In fact, many medical health experts warn their patients of the danger involved using too many colon cleansers because over use might lead to serious dehydration, infections, or other health concerns. Those with kidney and heart disease are at the greatest risk. Consequently, if you are thinking about using a body cleansing method to lose weight, get rid of constipation, boost health, improve the immune system; consult your doctor. Your doctor might be able to provide an alternative method that is gentler on the body.
