Sleep Disorders

Many find that sleep disorders are having a negative impact on their daily life and taking away from any positive experiences during the day. They find themselves proclaiming, "Sleep, I can't sleep. I have too much work and other activities scheduled during the day to sleep." And there just aren't enough hours in the day already to accommodate my activities." Think of it this way. Getting enough good sleep is a challenge for most people but it is necessary for total body care and health to get a good night's sleep. Those who are able to get a good night's sleep on a regular basis, find themselves bursting with more energy and ready, willing, and able to complete all daily activities. Here are a few tips on getting more sleep at night.

Sleep Routine - Get into a routine of preparing the body for a good night's sleep. Start the night with a long warm bubble bath. After the bath dress in sleep gear and sip some chamomile tea to relax. Try to avoid those high caffeine drinks or alcohol before bedtime. These drinks interfere with sleeping patterns and keep many people wired up instead of sleeping better.

Bedroom Sleep - One's bedroom should be a quiet and peaceful sanctuary. It's best to have one's bedroom in a quiet place far away from noisy streets and loud traffic and other interfering sounds that contribute to a lack of sleep. If noise is keeping you awake, try purchasing a white noise machine, or wear ear plugs to cover up noise. Use room darkening shades and curtains to reduce light that might interfere with sleep.

Sleep and Exercise- Exercising in the evenings might be the key to getting a good night's sleep. It's very true! Some find that mild exercise like light aerobics or jogging in place for several minutes actually makes one feel relaxed and ready to fall asleep.

Get Rid of Sleep Distractions - Bedtime is not the time to watch television or listen to loud music. This is very distracting and could contribute to sleep disorders and obtaining a good night's sleep.

Relax- Just simply relaxing seems hard to accomplish for many busy people. Actually it is easy to achieve with a bit of practice. Remind yourself to relax each night around sleeping time. First, take a long deep breath, try to clear your mind, and let all the concerns and worries that try to invade one's mind fade away.

Read - A few might say reading just before bedtime is too distracting. Especially if they are reading a wild adventure, involving mystery, or horror novel. The answer to this question is...you're right! Instead read an inspirational book, maybe even a self help book on improving sleep. Reading a relaxing book or even boring books might make a few feel sleepy and fall asleep faster.
