We do a lot of damage to our feet every day. We wear high heel shoes, tight shoes, shoes that pinch, shoes that constrict feet all for the sake of wearing what's in style. Actually many women end up torturing their feet all for the sake of fashion. And add to that standing on tired feet several hours a day or walking on hard city pavement. Is it surprising that those aching feet are worn out at the end of a long day? So, it is time we all started taking care of our feet and giving them a special treat. Namely, a professional pedicure at home!
Listen. We can't hide those aching feet forever. Soon as Spring rolls around it is time to start seriously thinking about getting those feet in shape for sandals or going barefoot on the beach. So, let's get started with a basic professional pedicure easily accomplished at home.
Basic Home Pedicure
- Nail Files
- Nail Clippers
- Nail Brush
- Cuticle Sticks
- Cotton Balls
- Massage Oil
- Foot Creme or Lotion
- Foot Towel
- Clear Fingernail Polish
- Fingernail Polish Remover
- Basin Filled with Soapy Water
- Epsom Salts, Baking Soda
Step 1 - Now let's get started with our home pedicure. Get in a comfy position on the edge of a tub or in a chair. Remove the nail polish off toes with cotton balls and finger nail polish remover. Take nail clippers and cut toenails straight across. File the edges of the nails until the edges are nice and smooth to the touch.
Step 2 - Ease feet into a basin filled with warm soapy water for a few minutes. Take a nailbrush and scrub the toenails. Once through scrubbing toenails remove feet from the water and dry them off with a foot towel.
Step 3 - Now take the Epsom Salts and Baking Soda, mix with water until it forms a nice thick paste. Take the paste and slather it on feet. Rinse off the paste by setting feet in a basin of warm water. Dry off feet with a foot towel.
Step 5 - Push back nail cuticles with a cuticle stick. Then use either your favorite massage oil or foot cream. Grab one foot and start to rub in the mixture into one foot and then other foot. Grab one foot and flex it up and down a few times. Then flex the other foot in the same manner. Now massage each of the toes gently. Take the foot towel and remove any traces of foot cream or massage oil.
Step 6 - Place small cotton balls between toes to hold them apart. And apply one or two coats of moisturizing or conditioning clear nail polish to strengthen nails. Relax and elevate feet to let the toenails dry. And congratulate yourself? You've just completed a professionally done pedicure at home.
