Prismacolor Pencils - Review

Prismacolor pencils are expensive!

What is so great about them?
• They have a soft thick lead
• They are wonderful for school projects
• The colors are bright
• Colors blend together beautifully
• Creative juices will flow!

Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, Soft Core, 48 PackPrismacolor pencils are sold in a variety of sets depending on how many colors you want and how much you have/want to spend. Although they are a bit pricey they are really the purchase of a lifetime, they are such a worthwhile investment. The set you buy for your middle schooler may very well be they set they take away to college with them.. At quality art store and college bookstores they should be able to buy individual replacement colors to replace any that are getting too short, or if one is lost.

We have used ours for a variety of projects: art journals, scrapbooking, card making, and a plethora of school projects. Book reports, science projects, maps to color, and illustrations for every subject imaginable! Just this past weekend, my 33 yo daughter saw my gold box (now they come in a tin) of them and tried to “snag” them. She was a Social Studies teacher for years and always recommended them to her students. The quality of work is just so much better than a dollar store set. --- but most of all, the quality of enjoyment is magnified by this quality product.

Not sold yet? Go to an art store and buy just a few colors, or buy the smallest set to try them out. You will love them!

Prismacolor also has a Verathin line with harder leads Prismacolor Premier Verithin Colored Pencils, 36 Pack – the colors aren’t quite as vibrant and don’t blend quite as well, but they do last longer and are easier to sharpen.

Prismacolor pencils sharpen best with an electric sharpener.

For an older child, pre-teen, or teen who loves to do art, these pencils are a wonderful investment that will be used for years to come.

I own Prismacolor and Verithin colored pencils
