Do a Kind Deed

World Kindness Week is the second week of November. It is important to be kind. Help your children find ways to be kind to one another.

Talk to your children about the importance of being kind to each other. Ask them for some ideas or examples of kindness. Do they know that kindness is not just for other people that you know – is it also important to be kind to the people in their family?

Sometimes it is easier to be kind to the other people in your class, and yet it isn’t always easy to be kind to your younger brother when he does something to your stuff.

Which is more important- Being kind to your family? or Being kind to people you don’t know as well?

Ask for suggestions and write them down. You can put all their suggestions inside a jar and every day they can pull a few of the ideas out and do them that day. Decorate the jar with stickers and keep it handy on the counter all week until all the KIND deeds have been done.

Some ideas that they might think of:

• Tidy up your room without being told
• Help your mom or dad make a cake for a neighbor
• Set the table without being asked
• Help someone who has a chore to do
• Offer to play with your little brother or sister
• Offer to play with someone who is alone on the playground
• Say something nice to someone you know
• Bring an extra snack to share with a friend at school
• Make a bead necklace or bracelet and give it to someone in your class
• Make a card for an older neighbor on your street
