Mother’s Day Crafts
Guest Author - Diane Claus

Mother’s Day, a chance to appreciate all the wonderful things mom does day in and day out 365 days a year.

Candy Necklace
You will need:
-String or yarn long enough to be a necklace
-Candy: Any candy that has a hole in the middle (I used Life Savers)
-Needle (optional)

Tie your string around one piece of candy and knot securely.

If you are using a needle thread the opposite end of the string and knot around the needle.

Slip the needle or the string/yarn through each piece of candy until all but an inch of the string is completely covered by your candy. Tie the end of the string to the first piece of candy and you have a candy necklace.

You can use this same method to make a matching candy bracelet.

“Diamond” Ring
You will need:
-Skittle
-Life Saver
-String
-Needle

First tie one end of the piece of string to the Life Saver.
Then thread your needle and gently push the needle in one side of the Skittle and out the other.
Pull the thread through the Skittle until the Skittle is loosely sitting on the Life Saver. Remove your needle.
Tie your string around the Life Saver to hold the Skittle in place.
To create the ‘ring’ take the string and allowing room for the finger, tie it to the other side of the Life Saver, allowing enough room for the finger.

Fruit Kebabs
You will need:
-Fresh fruit cut into bite sized pieces
-Cheerio’s
-Wooden skew

**An ADULT should cut the fruit into bite sized pieces.

To make the fruit kebabs simply push the wooden skewer through the pieces of fruit. To add Cheerio’s make sure that a piece of fruit is on one end to keep the Cheerio’s from falling off. After you are finished adding the Cheerio’s, put another piece of fruit to the opposite end.
