Aromatic Seasonal Blends
As you move into the cooler months, familiar aroma's begin to permeate the air. Essential oils play an important role in the world of scents as the weather begins to cool off. Woody, evergreen, citrus, spice and resin oils are all a part of cool air aroma’s. Pine cones, gingerbread, spice cakes, cinnamon and nutmeg welcome you to the world of fall and winter season.
As you move into the holiday season, be it Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chanukah or just celebrating life itself, aroma's and aroma blends will be part of your every turn. So let's take a look at some cool recipes for you to experiment with for the fall - winter season.
What's sweet, green and smells like the forest?
Sweet -Forest -Evergreen
Fall brings shorter days and longer dark nights. You can bring the fragrant smell of sun lit branches into your home with cuts from mistletoe, holly, pine and fir needle to release their lively smells.
Using an aromatherapy lamp, electric diffuser or tree ornament you can disperse the fresh, sweet, forest blend of essential oils into a room by using this combination of oils.
30 drops of fir needle
37 drops of tangerine
10 drops of juniper berry
20 drops of cedar wood
3 drops of cypress
Need to slow your role and find time to meditate through the hectic times of the holiday season? The rich blend of frankincense and myrrh is well suited to the spiritual renewal and meditation that come with winter season. Their rich, sweet aroma is relaxing and calming to your soul.
During the holiday season, if you attend the Christmas Eve service, you'll smell the aroma of frankincense and myrrh. Not a church goer, you'll hear church bells and experience the season through frosted glass panes. However you celebrate the season, scents will play a very important role.
Here is a recipe for a nice fall - winter Meditative Blend:
15 drops of lemon essential oil
15 drops of juniper berry essential oil
30 drops of frankincense
30 drops of myrrh
10 drops of cedar wood
You all know that aroma's can take you back years and bring up memories that are bound to make you blush. While these are not the only essential oils used to create aromatic scent blends, they are in fact a great place to start.
The next time you find yourself longing for the beauty of a long forgotten scent blend, try your hand at creating it for yourself. Go out and buy up a basic set of essential oils and keep them on hand when you feel the need to experiment.
