Summertime Diversions Summer is not easy. Many of our daughters are making plans of leisure, i.e. laziness, before school is even out. As many schools already plan to supply kids with summer home work to keep them busy and their minds active, we too can make plans for the days when they need something more or something different. I’ve checked the BellaOnline Daughters’ archives for articles to help with the rainy day blues or to escape the monotony of homework. Father and Daughter Fun A good start for summer is time with Dad. Father’s day is close to the end of school and a fine time to schedule some fun to start the summer off right. You know the phrase, “wrapped around your little finger,” well they are, wrapped around daddy’s little finger for sure. Here are some things to do while they still enjoy being attached. Long Distance Family Time Although summer is usually the time we may have a break to visit family out of town, it is also some extra time to communicate more with those we don’t see enough. Share some of these ideas with your daughters and get them excited about communicating long distance with the ones they love and who love them. How about some rainy day or early evening quiet time? Journal together, watch a movie, have a cocoa break or just talk with our daughters. Without the stresses of school we might even learn more about our growing daughters. Journaling with Daughters Journaling is a good habit and one that can serve more than one purpose. Whether one is the creative sort who likes to jot down ideas for further investigation at a later date, or someone who just likes to recount the day’s events or catalog their feelings, journaling is a healthy writing habit. Movie Reviews at Daughters Here are some great movies to enjoy with your daughters and family. An Evening Tea or Cocoa for Two…or more A simple evening ritual to spend time with your older daughter, or daughters. Dads and Moms can close the day with a quiet time to talk. When Our Daughters Talk We are never too old to hear a story about any topic of conversation that our daughters and their friends have. Didn’t we rush home eager to tell our moms the unexpected things that happened to us during the day? One important thing to remember is your family will function better if they stay on a regular schedule. Your daughter will be very tempted to turn off the alarm clock but you will all pay for it come September. Keep the clocks set and do your best to keep a similar routine but enjoy a summer filled with activities and together time. Enjoy your daughters this summer! | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site Map
