Example of Question & Answer

What is the right way to take communion?

I feel stirred to begin practicing communion in my time of prayer, perhaps as a way of renewed covenant living. I want to do the communion the right way, so how do I do that?

The tradition of Scripture and the church is that communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, is administered by a responsible leader in the church. It doesn’t necessarily have to be an ordained minister, but the person should be qualified as a leader. There is no precedent for self-administration of communion. In other words, if you desire to take communion during your time of prayer, you would not be following the teaching of Scripture or the tradition of the church.

We recommend that you find a church that administers the elements of communion on a regular basis. … [Pages 176-177.]

Note how the authors carefully explain their answer. The also provide the scripture references for questions as necessary. They also provide a comprehensive guide to the topics covered and the Scripture verses referred to at the end of the book.

Recommendation

If you are like me, you find yourself tongue tied when you want to answer a question about your beliefs. I just don’t think of the answers quickly. Sometimes, I simply don’t know the answers.

This book is an excellent guide to how to answer those common questions that Christians often get from their friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers, or teammates. It is arranged in a manner that should make it easy for you to find the general topic and then specific questions frequently asked about that topic.

The Christianity 101 series by Bickel and Jantz are outstanding. You can’t go wrong picking up one of these books to help you deepen your Christian faith, explain it to others, or simply study the Bible in more depth.
