Yani, the beautiful Scarlet Chested Parakeet is looking at you as you try this jigsaw puzzle. Thanks to Bette Rudy for letting me use this great picture of Yani.
As usual, you may have to scroll the window over to get the full puzzle into view. You can make this puzzle easier (or harder) by changing the shape and number of pieces.

Scarlet Chested Parakeets are not commonly found as pets, and their brillant colours almost don't look real. But - Yani is a real bird and they are bred in captivity, so if you are prepared to look for one, you might just find one available.
They are native to Australia, as are a great number of parakeets including budgies, and their care and feeding is similar to the other parakeets. They are fairly quiet birds, although they do love playing with a variety of toys.
For more information on parakeets, this book from both Amazon.com or Amazon.ca is full of information on the Australian Parakeets. Not all parakeets originate in Australia, but many of the species are found in the wild there.
