My Hiding Place

“ My soul waits silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.”
Psalm 62:5-7

Troubles seem to come to those who accept Christ. It’s inevitable. Anyone who says that life will be a bed of roses when you become a Christian is a liar. It’s no day at the park. If it’s so hard, you might say, why do it? The answer my friend is not blowing in the wind, it is written in the last few chapters of the book. You don’t have to wait till you get there to find out either. Our reward lies in Heaven with God. It is everlasting life with Him. We accept Christ and pick up our cross. We deny this world. We live as strangers in it.

But why is there always so much opposition? As Christians we have an enemy. This enemy wants to make us question our salvation or to think it’s a waste of time. He wants us to turn away from Jesus in order to hinder our sanctification. He wants to blind us and lead us into unimaginable sin so we think that we can never be forgiven again. This enemy is Satan.

Why are Christians so focused on Satan? It sounds like we are giving him all the power… the truth is that Satan has no power against those who are born again. Born Again Christians have the Spirit of the living God dwelling inside them. Therefore Satan can’t touch us. He can whisper in our ear and try to drive a wedge between us and God and he can use all our weaknesses and insecurities as human beings against us; but he can’t hurt us. The only ones he can take away with him to everlasting torment are the unsaved. Those who have heard the truth and turned the other way, choosing instead to live according to the ways of the prince of this world.

Our salvation is from the wrath of God that will come upon this world. True Christians will meet our Lord and Savior in the air. Those redeemed during the tribulation will be saved the judgment. We have only to trust in God and believe on the one He sent, Jesus Christ, the true Messiah. He is our rock, our unmovable and unchanging mountain. Through faith in the one true God, we can overcome the evil in this world. Marriages can be restored, addictions can be conquered and lives can be saved.

“And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;” Psalm 27:6

Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father and The Holy Spirit are like a range of mountains that all others cannot go around in their quest for the valley flowing with milk and honey. There in is my refuge. In God I shall hide. I will fear nothing but Him all the days of my life.

“The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalm 121:8
