Tools for Making Jewelry

There are so many kinds of tools for jewelry making. These are some hand tools that I recommend you to have ;
Split ring pliers are really nice to have if you work a lot with split rings. They make it so much easier to get that split ring onto your project.
There are certain kinds of pliers that are used for looping and making curves. A couple of them are; wire-looping pliers, these are kind of strange looking. They have one jaw that is graduated into three wire looping sizes and the other is formed in a curve.

And Concave-bending pliers have one jaw that is round with a tip and the other is molded to fit it. This allows you to form your wire into rounded shapes.
Flat nose pliers (also referred to as chain-nose) have flat jaws and have a strong hold. Good for holding jump rings.

Round nose pliers have rounded jaws that come to a point. Good for turning loops and bending wire into curves.

Bent flat nose pliers have precision to reach tiny spaces and are delicate to work on.

Flush cutting pliers, are used a lot in wire working to trim head pins and eye pins.I prefer the Side cutting pliers, I use them more than the flush cutters.

If you are using metals or doing wire work, you will want to have Nylon jaw pliers. These prevent nicks and dents on colored wire.

Crimping pliers secure crimp beads on beading wire or thread. Its’ jaws have two notches, one forms an “O” shape when closed and the other makes a “U”shape. First you use the “U” shape, then go back and squeeze it with the “O” shape to secure it and shape it to look more bead
like.

There are a couple of smaller tools that can be just as important as the bigger ones. One of which are the tweezers, good for picking up small items and helpful when tying knots. And good pair of precision scissors, designed to cut into tiny places are also a must. Another is an Awl. Awls are for things like helping tie knots, rounding narrow links and stretching links.

And the cute little jump ring tool that fits onto your finger and comes in very handy when working with a lot of jump rings. It has a couple of slots on it that will fit different sizes of wire gauge, just twist and hold the jump ring open.

I hope that I was able to inform you about some of the tools you will use when making jewelry.
