Greetings animal enthusiasts! I’d like to welcome you to the Animal Life section of BellaOnline.com. If you are reading this introduction, it is likely to get further insight about my perspectives and interests in animal life.

Before I can get into why animal causes are worthwhile, I need to outline the hypocrisy that plagues me about it. Does anybody else find it unsettling that we have spent billions on conservation projects to “resolve wildlife issues” and still have not worked out an effective solution? We have spent billions for essentially one thing, keeping humans away from the wild animal population.

I submit that the basic truth is that they do not need us tinkering in their lives. They just need us to leave them and their habitats alone. Do we do that? No. So now, we have to set up funds, organizations, rallies, and endangered species lists. Why? Fundamentally, it is for the lack of moral, social, intellectual, and individual control.

Animals in the wild have a natural ability to not cull their prey to extinction, an ability that humankind has yet to master. They understand that a symbiotic relationship with their prey allows them and their future generations to survive. In effect, Animal Life is not directly about saving animals. Rather, it is how we better protect them from our species of animal.

When an overzealous species, like humans, collides with the inherent harmony of nature, things begin to unravel, the natural order dies, and man remains ambivalent to the necessity of balance until we hit critical mass. This community will work towards changing that reality. Together we will examine animal and wildlife issues in the news. We will take a hard look at animal politics and discuss solutions. We will also enjoy discovering new species and learn ways to become actively involved in achieving a balanced coexistence between humans and the animals with which we share this planet.

Each reader has a voice in this community. Together we will inform, guide, and share our views through lively dialog in the Animal Life Forum area. For those interested in keeping abreast of updates to the site sign up for the weekly newsletter.
