The Virtues Of Reading The Quran The Virtues Of Reading The Quran. The Quran is the book of Allah revealed to His Noble Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him) over a period of 23 years. It is over 1400 since Prophet Muhammed's death, but not one word of the Quran has been altered. It is the only divine scripture in existence that has remained unaltered. Here are some Ahaadith (sayings & traditions) of The Holy Prophet Muhammed (p.b.u.h) regarding The Noble Quran. Hadhrat Uthman (R.A) narrates that Rasulullah (S.A.W) said "The best amongst you is he who learns the Qurán and teaches it." Hadhrat Abu Sa'eed (R.A) narrates that Rasulullah (S.A.W) said: "Almighty Allah says 'If anybody finds no time for My remembrance and begging favors of Me, because of his remaining busy with The Holy Quran, I shall give him more than what I give to all those who beg favors of me. The superiority of the Words Of Allah over all other words is like the superiority of Allah over the creation." Here Allah Taálah is telling us that those who read the Quran will get a better reward than those who beg favors of Him. Hadhrat Aa 'ishah (R.A) - wife of The Holy Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) narrates that her Noble Husband once said "One who is well versed in the Quran will be in the company of those angels who are scribes, noble and righteous; and one who falters in reading the Quran, and has to exert hard for learning, gets double the reward." Hadrat Ibn Umar (R.A) narrates that Rasulullah (S.A.W) said, "Hasad (jealousy) is not permitted except in respect of two persons - one whom Allah blesses with recitation of Quran and he remains engaged in it day and night, and the other who is given a lot of wealth by Allah and he spends it day and night." Hadhrat Abu Musa (R.A) narrated that Rasulullah (S.A.W) narrated that Rasulullah (S.A.W) said: "The example of a mo'min (believer) who reads the Quran is like that of citron which has a pleasant smell and a sweet taste. The example of a mo'min who does not read the Quran is like that of a date, which has no smell, though it is sweet. The muafiq (hypocrite) who does not read the Quran is like a wildgourd, which has a bitter taste and no smell, and the munafiq who reads the Quran is like raihan (sweet-smelling flower), which is fragrant but has a bitter taste." If the Quran is sitting and getting dusty on your shelves, then take it off and read it today. | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site Map
