How To Make Scented Spa Treatments
When we think pumpkins and cranberries, it certainly brings to mind festive meals with family and friends. But how about creating great scented spa treatments for your face and your body.
Pumpkins can be made into delicious anti-aging facial treatments, that will leave your skin feeling soft, hydrated and looking very youthful. Pumpkins make excellent face mask ingredients, especially for environmentally damaged and sensitive skin. High in Vitamin A ( heals the skin), C (an antioxidant) and Zinc, the pumpkin soothes, moisturizes and acts as a carrier helping other mask ingredients to absorb deeper into your skin and intensifying the results.
Scented Pumpkin Pie Facial Mask
2 teaspoons cooked, canned or pureed pumpkin
one-half teaspoon honey (honey is a humectant and is regenerative)
one-quarter teaspoon milk or soymilk
A pinch of cinnamon (circulation)
Combine the ingredients for your pumpkin pie facial mask. Mix gently and apply to your face avoiding your eye area. Relax for 10-15 minutes while your face mask gently exfoliates, nourishes and conditions your face. Rinse with warm water and apply the appropriate moisturizer.
By adding a fine sea salt or jojoba wax beads to your mixture you will then have a great exfoliant for your feet.
Note: When working with pumpkin seed essential oil, if not stored properly, it will go rancid.
Cranberries are also a great anti-aging facial treatment that will leave your skin feeling soft, hydrated and youthful. Cranberries have been known to reverse sun damage, eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, erase lip lines and firm and tone aging skin. And we thought cranberries were just for kidney infections and garnishing the turkey.
Cranberry Facial Mask
3/4 cup fresh cranberries
3/4 cup seedless grapes
re-sealable plastic container
3 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 envelope plain gelatin
1 tsp. oat or almond powder
Put the cranberries and grapes into the blender.
Add the lemon juice, gelatin and oat or almond powder and continue to blend until the mixture makes a paste.
Spoon the cranberry facial mixture into a re-sealable plastic container and refrigerate it for at least 45 minutes or until it thickens
Remove the facial mixture from the refrigerator and let it warm for about 8-10 minutes before using it. Apply the cranberry facial mask to a clean face and let it remain on your face for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
When you’re preparing your environment for your facial, add a pumpkin or cranberry scented candle to your space. You’ll really enjoy your scented spa facials and foot treatments even more.
