How does the time change affect your pet bird(s)?
Well - for us, we get to sleep an extra hour at this time of year, but for your bird, that just means he, she or they have to wait an extra hour for their food and some attention from you. Its not going to kill them and they will get used to the new time in a few days, but there are ways you can ease them into the change.
You can start before the time change or wait until the day that the time has changed, but instead of making the whole hour change at once, you can make them wait for 15 minutes the first day, then 30 minutes the next day and so on. You could even break it down into 3 - 20 minute changes so this will only last for 3 days, which is about how long it will take them to get used to having to wait that extra hour anyway.
Of course, this means that you will not get that extra hour of sleep, but that won't kill you and at least you know what is going on, unlike your bird(s).
The time change in the spring does not need any slower introduction, since your bird(s) will not mind getting fed an hour earlier and does not mind going to bed an hour earlier than night (since he started the morning an hour earlier).
When I had several birds, I had their room lights on timers and I would start the time change for them a couple of days before it actually began for me. This way, by the day after the time changed, they were already into the new schedule.
If you are reading this now, and your area changes time, but you forgot about it - you now have an extra hour this morning.
