Jake's Cheezeburger Soup Recipe

Jake's Cheezeburger Soup Recipe
If the Basic Ground Beef Module is in the freezer, and the Basic Cream Soup Mix is on the pantry shelf, Jake’s Cheezeburger Soup is less than 30 minutes away. It combines the favorite ingredients in classic cheeseburgers in a comforting and warming soup that is perfect for cool weather. Shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and croutons are stirred in at the last minute, making this soup a complete meal with great flavors and varied textures. It’s especially popular with kids since they love to stir in their own ingredients. It is, in fact, my grandson, Jake’s favorite soup; he’d rather eat this soup than a real cheeseburger.

If necessary, this soup can be made up to two days ahead and refrigerated. Reheat on medium heat, stirring often to prevent scorching.

8 Servings

6 cups water
2 cups basic Cream Soup Mix
1/4 cup dehydrated onion flakes
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups ground beef mixture from the Ground Beef Module
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish

1 pound processed American Cheese, chopped

3 medium tomatoes, diced
2 cups Shredded Lettuce
2 cups croutons, plain or any flavor
  1. Mix the water, cream soup mix, onion flakes, mustard, and pepper in a large soup pot.

  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add the ground beef mixture and relish; stir to mix.

  4. When the mixture boils, turn the heat to low and stir in the cheese; stir until melted.

  5. Ladle soup into bowls.

  6. Allow guests to stir in lettuce, tomatoes, and croutons.
