Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry
Devil May Cry is based on Capcom's video game series. The anime was produced by Madhouse, and was directed by Shin Itagaki. The 12 episodes of Devil May Cry aired on WOWOW between June 14 and September 6, 2007. At Anime Expo 07, it was announced that ADV Films had licensed the rights to the series; however, in 2008, Devil May Cry became one of 30 titles that were transferred to FUNimation Entertainment. Devil May Cry made its North American debut on television when it started airing on the FUNimation Channel on September 6, 2010.

The main character of the series is Dante. He is a private investigator who operates a devil-hunting business called Devil May Cry. Dante primarily accepts jobs that involve the supernatural. Unfortunately, Dante ends up being short of money for various reasons, whether it's due to his clients not paying him because he causes damage while on a job, having to pay off a bet, or by being too lazy to work more than once a week. However, when Dante does take on an assignment, he gets the job done. Dante has a liaison named Morrison. Morrison finds jobs for Dante, and he helps out with repairs around the office.

Dante meets Patty Lowell in the first episode of the series. She's a young girl who had supposedly come into a large inheritance, but this turned out to be a scam. Since the scam was revealed, Patty spends a lot of time with Dante. Patty is very cute and girly, and loves cute things. She decorates Dante's gloomy office with plush toys, ribbons, and other cute things.

Trish is a demon created by Lord Mundus who has the image of Dante's late mother in her face. She has such demonic powers as electricity, strength and quick healing. Lady is a human devil huntress; sometimes she brings Dante work, but Lady usually has to con him into accepting these jobs. At first, Trish and Lady don't get along, but they do eventually become friends.

FUNimation has given Devil May Cry a rating of TV-MA. This is a violent anime with lots of blood, so I can agree with this rating for the violent content. Devil May Cry is definitely not an anime series for younger viewers. Since this series has a TV-MA rating, I can only recommend Devil May Cry to anime viewers who are 18 years of age and older.
