For many people, career is what defines a very large portion of their daily life and even their identity. Many people struggle when it comes to career, training for jobs that make better money perhaps at the cost of personal fulfillment. Still others don't fully consider all the aspects of certain positions. If Jane is someone who loves to travel and who thrives on change and different challenges, an accounting job in a cubicle somewhere will stifle her soul energy. On the other hand, if you have someone who needs more structure and thrives on a more set schedule, knowing exactly what is expected of them, training for a career that involves a lot of travel and unpredictable variables will create high levels of stress and anxiety.
Many jobs create a great deal of restriction and others have so much freedom there is no real structure at all. Some jobs are very creative and artistic whereas others are strictly analytical and structured, while others blend both easily. There are so many variants to consider when choosing a career path(s) and for that reason I developed a career spread several years ago that encompasses all of these areas.
I felt that in order to get a good handle on the ideal career path it would be important to look at the questioners natural talents and personal strengths as well as their challenges and problem areas. It's important to look at ways to use the most of one's potential while avoiding career paths that will stifle them or cause them stress.
This spread can be used to look into the questioners current career path or a new potential career path . The position meanings are listed below. You can place them left to right or in a manner that has meaning to you.
