National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
The website provides a wealth of information to anyone who takes the time to become familiar with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) website. The CyberTipLine is an online resource that provides a way for reporting information in cases where a child may be being exploited physically or visually. Sadly, according to a news release from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children the CyberTipLine has received its one millionth report of suspected child exploitation since it was formed in 1998.
Although statistics have long estimated that girls are two times more likely to be exploited than boys before they are 18 years old, that statistic may soon be increasing due to the availability of electronic media devices that can access the internet like cell phones, computers, and IPods which are now being given to children at very young ages. This is especially true for children in homes where their online activity is not closely monitored. Child predators are accessing children in their homes every day via the World Wide Web.
Provided below is a link to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) website. Please look into the faces of the children currently missing in America. If you recognize a child or have information regarding a missing child contact your local law enforcement, 911, or the 24 hour hotline provided by the National Center for missing Children (NCMEC) at 1-800-THE-LOST or 1-800-843-5678.
