Time Management Tips
Time management is often a crucial factor in small businesses. It can be the determining factor in whether or not your business is a success or a failure. Juggling a new business, family, friends, and possibly even a full time job can be a crazy circus act. Learning some time management techniques can make it more manageable.

There are a few tried and true time management tips that can make your life more successful. You may choose to implement all or pick and choose the tips that work best for you and business. There is no right or wrong way to manage your time as long as you are meeting your goals and getting things done.

Make a schedule

Developing a routine helps to keep your focus. Distractions are easier to say no to if you know what needs to be done and when. Stick to your schedule as much as possible. There are many creative types that hate keeping a schedule. Just remember that you can keep your schedule as specific or general as you need to make your goals accomplishable.

Set a timer

At first this can be distracting but in a short amount of time you will come to appreciate it. Whether you go with the Pomodoro technique, which was developed in the late 1980s by Francesco Cirillo. This method consists of setting a time in twenty minute intervals with short breaks between. Using a timer is a great way to free the mind for that amount of time to stay focused on your specific task. If you user your schedule, allowing time solts with specific task you will be marking them complete in no time.

Use a planner

Having a planner that meets your needs is like having an efficient personal assistant. The key is finding one that meets all your needs. It might take some time but it is invaluable to your success as an entrepreneur. There are a few popular ones out now such as Franklin Covey Planners, Erin Condren’s Planners, and Day Planners. Look through some and read lots of reviews before deciding best for you. You may even decide to make your own using the bullet journal method or using your own binders, dividers, and an assortment of free planner printouts.

Use apps

Apps can be your best friend. Most of us use our phones, tablets, laptops, and/or computers. Staying plugged in can be very distracting. Calls that need to be made or social media posts or even looking up information can distract you for hours. Choose a program or app to block those distractions for the amount of time it will take you to accomplish the task at hand. Use calendars, to do lists, your email, and reminders to keep you on task. Don’t get sidetracked stay focused.

Play around and implement each of these tips, keep the ones that work for you and discard the ones that don’t. Everyone is different and your system will be too, and that is ok. The point is to complete the steps you need to complete to reach your goals.
