Fragrance Games
Guest Author - Robin Rounds Whittemore

If you would like to have some fun with fragrance, how about trying the games that are at the fragrance game site? The words are associated with fragrance, as in different scents, different ways to use scents, etc. The online addresses are below.

In addition to games being fun, either alone or with others, they are also great for keeping your brain active. Exercise is very important for your body and the same goes for mental exercises as well. Games can be a way to also take a break from a stressful routine.

One fragrance game that is fun for candle demonstrators to do at home parties is a type of candle psychology game. One word is said and then the next person says a word that the previous word reminds them of. This can keep going until someone breaks the chain of thought.

The game for candle parties is almost like that except that each person just says what is on their mind. This is more of an icebreaker game before you go into a demonstration. Here is how it is played:

You need enough candles for each guest at a home party. Each guest gets one candle to hold and sniff. One at a time, each guest sniffs their candle and says the first word or phrase that comes to mind. Perhaps when sniffing an apple scented candle, someone might say, “The apple tree back home” or even, “Apple pie at Polly’s Diner and my first kiss with Bobby Smith”. They are not trying to guess the fragrance name.

This gives people a chance to hear what others have to say about a particular fragrance. It could also entice them to smell a candle that perhaps they would not have been previously interested in.

One exercise a demonstrator can do at a home party is to get everyone to relax by playing meditation music and lighting a scented candle. When the aroma has blanketed the room, the lights are turned down and people are allowed to drift into their own thoughts for about 5 to 10 minutes. This is great for candle and spa home parties especially.

You may think 5 minutes is not long enough, but try this: Take a watch with a second hand and hold it still for 5 minutes. Do nothing else while you are waiting for the 5 minutes to pass. You should find that it is a good amount of time.
