Recipe Blends For Natural Perfume

Recipe Blends For Natural Perfume
When you're blending your own perfume, you can often recipes that match your preference for the therapeutic benefits of the perfume. Also, try experimenting with some of your favorite essential oils, to find the combination that you enjoy. The best perfumes will use three to six essential oils, because more than that can cause the smell to be overwhelming.

For example, certain blends help to improve your mood, while other blends are very relaxing and can be beneficial for stress relief. As you are blending different combinations, there are several tips that you should keep in mind:

Write everything down, so that you can refer back to your notes to duplicate the mixture if needed.

After mixing essential oils for a little while, it is a good idea to take a break. Working on essential oil blending for too long in one sitting can result in an overload of scent, which can impact the way you are smelling the combinations.

Consider using perfume-blending strips, which allow you to keep samples for each step of your blending process. Keep notes about the ingredients within each sample.

It is better to start with smaller amounts and add more if needed. You can't remove scent from the blend, but you can always add to it if needed. Start with 3 to 5 drops, and add more if needed.

The Difference Between Perfume and an Essential Oil Blend

The above recipes are essential oil blends, and it is important to understand that an essential oil blend is different than a perfume. You have the option to use the blend as it is, and it can be applied topically to your skin. Or, if you want to make a perfume out of the blend, then usually diluents are added to the mixture so that it is easier to use.

The general mixture is to make the essential oil blend, and then add it with alcohol ethyl and water. A good mixture is:

0 - 10% water
70 - 85% alcohol ethyl
15 - 30% essential oil blend

Or, if you want a lighter scent, then you can use 5 - 15% essential oil blend with 75 - 85% alcohol ethyl and the rest should be distilled water.

That's it for this week!
