PartyLite Review

Guest Author - Robin Rounds Whittemore

PartyLite, a home party candle company, has been in business quite a long time. They are owned by Blyth, Inc. PartyLite traces its roots back to a schoolteacher named Mabel Baker who lived in Cape Cod. In the early 1900ís, she made her own candles from bayberries. She started her own business selling the candles that she made and her pioneering spirit lives on in PartyLite today.

PartyLite candles vary in size, shape, and price. Some fragrances are seasonal. Partylite has many more scents than I will attempt to describe here. To find the most current scents and prices, along with their other products, go to the PartyLite website where you can find a local consultant.

The following reviews are based on products that I have personally tested. I have tested many of these fragrances in each line, and these are a few of my favorites in each category. As I am fully aware, tastes differ between people. Therefore, I do not presume myself to be a fragrance critic, but a fragrance reviewer.

ICED SNOWBERRIES: A wonderful fresh, crisp, and clean smell mixed with the distinct aroma of berries. Iced Snowberries is a very fitting name for this scent. The candle color is white.

GOJI BERRY CHOCOLATE: This candle has the smell of chocolate and berries. When I smell it, I get the impression of berries first, then the chocolate. It is definitely a different and unique fragrance. This candle is part of their Well Being Spa line. The candle color is white.

BELLA LUNA: The scent I smell is warm, musky, woodsy and Oriental all at once. This is a candle that I would give to the man in my life. The candle color is gray.

RED CURRANT AND BLACK PLUM: The red part of this sophisticated color scheme smells like the currant part, as it should. It reminds me a little of mulberry. The black candle has a definite odor of plum to it. I love the scent as well as the color combination with this one.

CHERRY ORCHARD: The scent of cherries is not chokingly overwhelming as it is in some products. This has a nice lighter scent of the cherries, which could be due to the whisper of vanilla that is in the description. The candle color is hot pink.

VANILLA PEACH: If the scent of plain peach is too much for you, try this candle. The peach is toned down, but not too much, by the vanilla. It is a strong but delicate scent. Even though I like more dark and musky scents, this one is pretty much my favorite. The candle color is a light peach or orange.

STRAWBERRY FIELDS: The medium toned pink of this candle makes you think of strawberry ice cream. It does indeed smell like you just bit into a strawberry.

STRAWBERRY RHUBARB: This candle is a lighter pink than the Strawberry Fields candle. You get the light whiff of strawberries mixed with another scent. If you have ever baked a strawberry rhubarb pie, you will know the smell of this candle.

COCONUT MILK CHOCOLATE: The delicate scent of chocolate hits you first. The delicious mingling of the chocolate and coconut is very well received by the nose. Perhaps that is what makes the warm wax smell like hot cocoa. This candle is a medium brown in color.
