A Walk With the Women of the Bible

by Lynne Chapman
Take a walk with the women of the Bible. In each woman΄s story, there is a picture of God that shows us something of Who He is and helps us to find out who we are. “A Walk With the Women of the Bible” is a collection of the stories of over 37 women.

When I read the Bible I often think about walking the streets of Jerusalem or Nazareth. I wonder about meeting the prophet Samuel or chatting with the apostles. I love to put myself into Bible stories. This is why I have a passion for studying the women who are immortalized in the pages of the Bible. These women lived many years ago and most of them were very simple people, yet their stories have been read and studied over and over again through the centuries.

When hearing of famous Bible characters, we often hear of the great men of Bible history but seldom of the great women. A look into the Bible shows that women played a huge part of shaping Bible history.

Women of the Bible helped to shape the nation of Israel. They taught their children about the One True God and they patiently waited for the Savior to come. A woman gave birth to God made flesh and women worshipped at His feet as He began His ministry. Women were among the last standing at the cross to witness Jesus’ sacrifice for sin. Women were the first at the tomb on the day of His resurrection. Jesus appeared first to a woman and gave her the joyous responsibility of carrying the message of His victory over death.
