A Walk With the Women of the Bible

by Lynne Chapman
Take a walk with the women of the Bible. In each woman´s story, there is a picture of God that shows us something of Who He is and helps us to find out who we are. “A Walk With the Women of the Bible” is a collection of the stories of over 40 women.

Take a walk along the streets of Jerusalem or Nazareth. As I read the Bible, I wonder about meeting the prophet Samuel, chatting with Queen Esther, talking with the apostles, or asking Priscilla how she and Aquilla saved Paul’s life. I love to imagine myself in Bible stories. This is why I have a passion for studying the women who are immortalized in the pages of the Bible. These women lived many years ago and most of them were very simple people, yet their stories have been read and studied over and over again through the centuries.

When hearing of famous Bible characters, we often hear of the great men of Bible history but seldom of the great women. A look into the Bible shows that women played a huge part of shaping Bible history.

Women of the Bible helped to build the nation of Israel. They taught their children about the One True God and they patiently waited for the Savior to come. A woman gave birth to God made flesh and women worshipped at His feet as He began His ministry. Women were among the last standing at the cross to witness Jesus’ sacrifice for sin. Women were the first at the tomb on the day of His resurrection. Jesus appeared first to a woman and gave her the joyous responsibility of carrying the message of His victory over death.

In these Bible stories you will make new friends of many interesting women, learn about their lives and possibly get some insight into how it felt to live in those ancient days.

What could have persuaded Eve to give up her perfect existence for an apple?

How did a competition between two sisters result in the twelve tribes of Israel?
